Simulation of the spatial shift in detector response for polarized protons within a calorimeter

Measurement of the helicity dependent elastic electron-proton scattering cross section provides a key means investigating parity violation within proton. However, such measurements exhibit potential instrumental effects associated with detection polarized recoiled protons. In particular, spin-orbit interactions massive detector induce systematic spatial shift in signal. this study, we determine size using Geant4 simulation toolkit. For typical hadron calorimeter, found polarization on order 0.01-0.1 mm, multiple orders magnitude smaller than resolution seen hadronic calorimeters. Additionally, provide custom modifications required source code to implement quasi-elastic protons incident nuclei detector. The are readily extendable generic matter sources, and can be used for study additional spin observables Geant4.
